Valcann, a Group Elephant AWS specialist based in Brazil, recently partnered with Linear IT, a technology firm focused on intelligent solutions for the electricity sector, to reimagine inbound invoice processing through AI-driven automation in pursuit of greater speed, accuracy and scalability.

Faced with a sharp increase in the volume of invoices processed each month, Linear IT’s predominantly manual invoicing workflows became increasingly time-consuming, error-prone and expensive.

To address these issues, Linear IT engaged Valcann to design, build and deploy an automated invoice data extraction and processing pipeline, enabled by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and generative AI technology. Incoming invoices are now received and categorized via Amazon SES, securely stored in Amazon S3, and processed using the advanced OCR capabilities of AWS Textract. Generative AI models further refine data interpretation, while AWS Lambda orchestrates the automation workflow from pre-processing and validation, to structured data output.

The resultant system is robust and intelligent, and compliant with local regulations. It significantly reduces processing times and provides rapid access to clean, structured data for further analysis. Additional AWS utilities provide for real-time monitoring, fault tolerance and dynamic scalability.
