Another week, another pilot graduate among the Group’s leaders and emerging leaders, and from the Group’s Advance practice, yet again.

The Group's 'You Too Can Fly' program is designed to develop leaders and emerging leaders through pilot training. Sound judgement, strong communication, risk management, situational awareness, and the ability to effectively prioritize and triage – all crucial when behind the controls of an aircraft – translate well into the domain of leadership.

Pretoria-based Terence Jordan is an Associate Partner in the Advance practice, heavily involved in serving an offshore client. He’s delighted about having earned his Private Pilot License, after his final check ride on June 24 at Grand Central Airport, located between Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Terence has benefited greatly in the workplace from the hard-won ability to ‘stay ahead of the airplane’. He reckons that as a direct result of flight training, he is now better equipped to anticipate potentially problematic circumstances and take preemptive corrective action, making him far more highly situationally aware in complex business environments. This new-found skill allows him to more easily deal with sophisticated, demanding clients, and guide projects with heightened precision.

Terence plans to embark upon advanced training in due course, in pursuit of the coveted Instrument Rating.
