ERP’s protected rhino population continues to grow, with two new calves born during the past two months.

The rhino population under the protection of Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP) continues to expand, with two calves born recently at a high-security sanctuary on an ERP game reserve in Southern Africa.

One of the new arrivals was born to a rhino named Jessica, in honor of Jessica Keartland of our UK business, and a younger sibling to Esté, named in honor of Este Smith, Managing Director of ERP in South Africa. The second calf was born to Marieta, named in honor of Marieta Markgraaff of our Labs practice in South Africa.

These latest births reflect the impact of ERP’s robust, long-term approach to megafauna conservation, combining secure habitat, ongoing monitoring and round-the-clock protection. Each new calf is treasured, and represents an important contribution to the future of the species and to ERP’s broader efforts to protect Southern Africa’s threatened rhinos.
