ERP Namibia and Gondwana Collection Namibia launch what could become the world’s largest black rhino sanctuary.

ERP Namibia and Gondwana, Namibia’s largest inbound tourist operator, recently inked an agreement to establish a black rhino sanctuary, with plans to turn it into the largest of its type in the world. Launched on 140,000 hectares of what is historic black rhino rangeland adjacent to the Fish River Canyon (Africa’s largest), the partners plan to establish the leading sanctuary in terms of grade of security and of rhino numbers, for the critically endangered black rhino. It will be operated through a public-private partnership arrangement with Namibia’s Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism.

In addition to contributing land, Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP) will lead conservation and rhino protection efforts, heavily leveraging technology. Gondwana will continue operating its highly respected brand of tourism activity on the reserve.

The venture was recently featured in an article in the Namibia Economist, available for download here: https://lnkd.in/eeTCCk4j.
